The Bauer Winter Championships are in full swing with25 games played over the course of the weekend at Silent Ice Center and Morinville Silent Ice Gardens with even more action set to come this upcoming weekend as 76 games across five divisions are slated to hit the ice across five different sheets

The Hockey Super League was on full display in the opening of two weekends of the Winter Championships as the 2013 and 2012 AAA divisions competed throughout the weekend.
The 2013’s opened the day with a matchup between Sauce Hockey Academy and Flyers HC which saw a pair of goals from Enzo Fournier to help Sauce to a 4-1 victory and earn the title of 2013 HSL Winter Champions.
Following the Sauce win, the 2012’s were highlighted in a game featuring the Spartan Hockey Academy and Gorillas Hockey Academy. A 2-2 game into the 3rd period, Rowan Oddie broke the tie and added another as part of a three-goal final frame for Spartan HA as they earned a 5-2 win in the 2012 division.
The final Championship game on Sunday came from the Junior Prospects Hockey League and the 14U division as South Sask HC matched up against Titans Hockey Union. South Sask scored five goals in the opening period coupled with a Cruz Schwabe hat-trick to lead them to an 8-1 triumph and 14U Winter Champions.
Coming This Weekend:
With one weekend down, the final weekend of the Bauer Winter Championships will take place at Hatch Co. Arena at Silent Ice Center but also be featured on four other sheets around the Edmonton area. Hesco Arena (inside Silent Ice Center), Morinville Silent Ice Gardens and The Meadows East and West will see action from the Female Super League’s 12U and 14U divisions as well as the JPHL’s 15U, 17U and 18U players.
The FSL Winter Championship final games will take place on Hesco at 10:30 AM (12U) and 1:15 PM (14U) while Championship Sunday for the JPHL divisions will take place at Hatch Co. at 8:00 AM (15U), 10:45 AM (17U) & 1:45 PM (18U).
