Calgary, AB — March 4, 2025
The Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL) is excited to announce the return of the Calgary Stallions, an original and reimagined Hub that is set to make an impact in the 2025-26 season (SZN4). After taking a one-season hiatus in 2024-25, the Stallions are returning to developing elite hockey talent while delivering exceptional value to both athletes and their families.
The 2025-26 season will see the Stallions return as a 17U team, introducing a new out-of-school program designed to cater to the evolving needs of young athletes in the Calgary area. As part of the JPHL, the Stallions will offer a competitive environment that integrates player development into the junior hockey pipeline, providing a bridge to future opportunities in higher levels of the sport.
“We’re very excited to bring the Calgary Stallions back into the fold with a fresh approach and a focus on high-caliber development,” said JPHL Commissioner, Richard Nault. “We are bringing back Mackenze Stewart, who is a well rounded and passionate coach but also a renowned skill development specialist in the area while also working with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL with a focus on their Prospect Development. The Stallions will feature a roster built for success in a highly competitive JPHL division. We are confident this reimagined Hub fills a gap of financially accessible hockey programming in the Calgary hockey community, offering athletes a chance to develop at a fraction of the cost of the other academy models while providing more value at the same time. The days of needing to spend over $40,000 per year for your player to advance in hockey are declining rapidly.”
True to the JPHL’s commitment to value, the model professionally broadcasts every game with play-by-play commentary and extensive interviews on and off the ice while also saving athletes and their families tens of thousands of dollars after tax, allowing them to focus on development and competition without the burden of excessive costs. The league prides itself on providing the best value for hockey development, all while helping athletes navigate their path to junior hockey and beyond.
In addition to their 17U offering, the Calgary Stallions will expand further in the 2026-27 season by adding a 14U team to their lineup, broadening their reach and providing even more opportunities for young players in the Calgary area.
“We are excited to see what we can achieve in the coming season. The JPHL is quickly becoming the destination for athletes developing at the highest levels of 14U and through to 18U hockey. The continued growth of our league is evidence of that,” said the Stallions Head Coach, Mackenze Stewart. “Stay tuned for more exciting announcements as the Stallions continue to build on our legacy.”
