Spring hockey raced to new heights this year as the Hockey Grand Prix welcomed teams from Western Canada to the Silent Ice Center, south of Edmonton.
40 clubs from Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia, over six age divisions – 2011-2016 birth years – competed for the checkered flag in 3-day tournaments, with all Sunday games fully broadcast on Silent Ice TV to watch live or re-watch later.
Next year something new will be added as teams speed towards victory lane. The tournaments will rev things up in two female divisions starting in April 2025 along with seven male divisions.
The first girls’ Hockey Grand Prix will feature the U13 and U15 divisions, while on the boys’ side, it will be the 2012-2018 age groups in seven divisions.
“We will continue to create showcase opportunities and experiences for our female athletes by adding two female divisions this upcoming year,” announced Tyrel Spitzer, Vice-President of Programming and Sports Properties with Silent Ice Sports and Entertainment. “We want athletes and families outside of our development leagues to experience the great facility and quality broadcast that our internal programs participate in throughout the winter season.
The chase for the pole position will start on April 4th and cross the finish line on June 1st, giving players and fans two terrific months of spring hockey at the gorgeous Silent Ice Center that wows hockey fans as soon as they enter.

Players, coaches, and parents are inevitably drawn to the giant video board at Silent Ice Center during the Sunday broadcasts, which along with the arena, sets the tournaments apart from all others.
“The Slave Lake Cyclones participated in the Silent Ice Tournament last May, an event unlike any other that we have attended,” stated Travis Eben, Head Coach of the Slave Lake Cyclones.
“The facility was exceptional, and the children had the unique opportunity to have their games recorded with detailed play-by-play commentary. Zenon’s outstanding organization and clear communication made the tournament a truly remarkable experience for everyone involved.”
Already, spots are filling up for 2025 with word spreading about the incredible event.
